how to // host a successful friendsmas

It doesn't seem like that long ago that I was talking about how to host a successful Friendsgiving. Isn't it crazy how fast this holiday season is going? Christmas is just over 2 weeks away, and many of us have a lot of parties to attend, and some may even be hosting! I feel like Friendsmas is made best by these four things: music, food, drink, and of course, your outfit. If you're in charge of Friendsmas this year, here's some tips on how to host it successfully:

PLAYLIST

While I truly believe you could just put Mariah Carey's Christmas CD on repeat, perhaps some people would like to mix it up a bit. I LOVE Christmas music - in moderation - when I worked full time and it was the same music playing every day I was going a little crazy (Be strong my former co-workers.. only 16 more days...) But now that I'm not working full time and not hearing it for 8+ hours a day, I have some more respect for it. So I've put together a few songs that will make the perfect playlist for your Friendsmas get together:

Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas - Christina Aguilera
Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer - Jack Johnson
I've Got My Love To Keep Me Warm - Ingrid Michaelson
Joy to the World - Francesca Battistelli
Let it Snow - Aly & AJ
What Christmas Means to Me - Hanson
Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town - Bruce Springsteen
Silver Bells - Katherine McPhee
I'll Be Home for Christmas - Kelly Clarkson
The Christmas Waltz - Harry Connick, Jr.
A Holly Jolly Christmas - Lady Antebellum
Do They Know It's Christmas? - Band Aid 30
Womderful Christmastime - Paul McCartney
Happy Xmas (War is Over) - Maroon 5
O Tannenbaum - Vince Guaraldi Trio
It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas - Michael Buble
Please Come Home for Christmas - Eagles
Frosty the Snowman - Fiona Apple
Santa Tell Me - Ariana Grande
I'll Be Home - Meghan Trainor
Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas - Sam Smith
Winter Wonderland - Leona Lewis
All I Want For Christmas Is You - Mariah Carey
Baby it's Cold Outside - Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey
Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays - *NSYNC

FOOD

Usually when I'm trying to think of appetizers for a party, I head straight to Pinterest and scroll, pin, and repeat. This year Kraft has made recipes really easy to find in just one click! (This post is not at all sponsored by Kraft... I'm just being efficient!) Click this link and you can find TONS of different ideas for Christmas party food. (If Christmas isn't your thing, they also have ideas for Hanukkah and Kwanzaa, as well as ideas for New Year's Eve and those New Year's Day football games.) Here are just a few of my favorites from their Christmas appetizer menu:

... Seriously, I need to stop talking about apps when I'm hungry.. DROOLING.

DRINKS

Like I've said before, I love me a festive cocktail. As with food, I usually go to Pinterest to get some ideas. But I've found another one-stop shop. One of my favorite fellow bloggers has decided to post 25 days of holiday-inspired cocktails, so why look any further than her blog? She can be found at 5oclockfashionistas.com. (Seriously, I love the name of her blog - and her tagline? Purses Down, Bottoms Up. LOVE IT.) While she is only 10 days in, there are already so many great cocktails that she's come up with. Here are a few that I cannot wait to concoct:

Seriously, I want to party with this chick. I never thought there was someone else on this earth with such a love for festive cocktails and happy hour as me. Make sure to follow her "'Tis the Season to be Spirited" board on Pinterest for the rest of her great ideas!

OUTFIT

Right here on TBSB I've shared one of a few holiday looks that I'll be posting throughout December. Here is another:

{I know these pictures aren't the best. I was being pelted in the face with rain}
dress // purse (similar here) // shoes (similar here and here)

As you guys know, I love Rent the Runway. This dress was AMAZING. It seriously pained me to send this one back.

I hope everyone has a fun Friendsmas! Happy Holidays and thanks for reading!
