With all these amazing trends out now, I decided to try out a new blog series called Best of the Best. I'm currently loving ruffles in all shapes and sizes, and there are so many amazing options out right now, from shorts to dresses and even swimsuits! I personally like to keep it simple and not go totally overboard, but I've seen some ruffle on ruffle action on some people  - talking ruffles on top and ruffles on bottom - and I'm not going to lie, I kind of love it! I could not pull it off - but maybe you can! I'm definitely eyeing this dress, this swimsuit and this skirt for my vacation to Palm Springs next month!

Spring wedding season is here! You may think I'm crazy but I LOVE weddings. I love dressing up, dancing, having (sometimes too much) champagne, and most of all I love seeing people in love! olive green bomber + cutout booties | spring style

I've been wanting a bomber jacket FOREVER but there are so many choices out there that it makes it hard to make a decision! Satin, sequins, embroidered, pink, blue - so many choices! One color that I can always depend on is olive green, so when I saw this bomber at Target, I decided to take the plunge. It also comes in an adorable berry color, and I want that one as well, but I know I'll wear olive green more, and it's a great color for spring! 

Since the foreseeable forecast calls for temps mostly in the 60s, that means I can get a lot of wear out of this bad boy before it gets unbearably hot here. I love how it can be paired with denim, a springy, floral dress or even a maxi. The possibilities are endless, and I can't wait to play around with styling it! And can we talk about these booties - by far one of the best spring purchases I have made this year. The cutouts make them great for the slightly warmer temps, and they are so versatile - as if I need another reason to wear them with everything!

Sometimes it's way too windy outside to take a pic. Sometimes your husband gripes and complains when you ask him to take a pic. So sometimes, you just need to head to the bedroom for a mirror selfie. #bloggersgottablog and if that means an iPhone mirror selfie, then that's what you do! So here we are. I couldn't let this outfit go to waste - I just love it so much!

I got this sweater at Kohl's for less than $15 (!) over the weekend and I LOVE it, especially paired with these adorable pink shoes and this pink suede hat. The hubs and I spent the day at the dog park then walking around downtown Davenport and having lunch outside, and it was a bit breezy so I'm glad I had this long cardigan on. You can never go wrong with white on white, and this outfit is so comfortable and perfect for a gorgeous spring day!

burgundy maxi dress

It's almost here - maxi dress season! This weather needs to seriously quit playing games - 70s and sunny one day and snow storm the next.... This is the most bizarre March I've ever experienced! I should be used to it being from Iowa, but I am really ready for the snow to be gone and spring weather to be here to stay! I think we are in the clear for snow from now on, and looking forward to April showers bringing May flowers!

This dress is awesome because it is loose and light making it so incredibly comfortable, and I love the color - but it fits rather large, so be sure to size down one size. I cannot wait to pack this in my bag for our trip to Palm Springs in June. I can throw it on to go poolside, or wear it while we are out and about exploring the town! This dress also comes in a light brown color and it's only $10 (!) so be sure to scoop it up for summer!

black floral v-neck dress

I'm really trying my hardest to wear less black, but that's difficult because.. I love it! I'm happy that for this season, black florals are in, so I can wear black but also get a pop of spring with the floral print. This dress is such a great transition from winter to spring. I chose a more casual look with the sweater and flats, but I love that it can be worn casual, to the office, or you can dress it up by adding a belt and/or some heels!

This dress is lightweight and it has pockets, and at a price tag of under $24, what more could you ask for!? I also love how comfortable it is, and it fits loose, so it'd be perfect to wear out to chow down on Sunday brunch!

spring break | for the sun

Are you going anywhere tropical or warm for spring break? If so, I am so incredibly jealous! It has been almost a year since we've taken a vacation and I am dying to go somewhere warm. The hubs and I just booked a trip to Palm Springs in June, which will hopefully be here before we know it - I am just counting down the days!

I've rounded up a few items I think are essential for spring break. I'm obsessed with these round beach towels which are both cute and functional and would be perfect for a picnic on the beach. Everyone needs a cute beach bag, and I'm loving this one with the tassel details. It's no secret that I love to wear black. It's my go-to, it's what my closet mostly consists of, and it just seems to never fail me. I try my hardest to add color and avoid black when the outside temps start to rise, but when I saw this dress from Shein I thought, what a perfect compromise - it's black, but it has the prettiest floral pattern which is perfect for spring!

I have a closet full of hats that I rarely wear, so I love when I find an outfit I can break one out for. I wanted to pair this with black booties but let me tell you - my winter "tan" is blinding, so it really just didn't look right. I did however wear this dress with black-out tights and booties for a night out with the hubs and it looked fantastic. This dress is lightweight, versatile, so incredibly comfortable, and it's the perfect transition piece for winter to spring.
