nordstrom fall sale

Happy November, y'all! I know it's been a minute since I posted - mid-September and all through October was a bit crazy for me - but more on that in another post. For now, I wanted to share some deals - it's like Nordstrom's Anniversary sale all over again! Starting today until November 12th, Nordstrom is having their fall sale, with tons of great items that can be taken into winter as well. I've rounded up a few of my faves for you all, but there are still plenty more where this came from - all up to 40% off!

I can wear ankle boots during every season with the exception of summer, and I love this pair and this pair. This dress is perfect for holiday parties, and this dress would be so easy to layer for winter, and would be so cute with some tights. If you don't have a pair yet, you must get a pair of OTK boots, like these here which are a great price - 40% off right now! And since I'm still carrying a bit of baby weight, I'm looking forward to ponchos being in this season, and I'm loving this one here! And layer this top with a faux-fur vest and you've got a great, casual winter look!

trend alert | sweater weather

My favorite time of year! And it appears that this year, fall has come early! It was a very tolerable August in the weather department, and so far September has been beautiful! Usually it is still blazing hot through September, and then anything goes. I just hope it stays in the 60s-70s and doesn't drop any lower any time soon! In Iowa, it could be snowing by mid-October!

This season I'm loving oversized sweaters, sweaters with fun sleeve details, and of course long cardigans, which is basically all I can wear right now with this bump that is STILL growing! I'm hoping winter doesn't arrive right when baby does so I can try to enjoy a sliver of sweater weather in late October/early November. I do have a couple long cardigans that I've been living in (including this one here), especially just lounging around at home with a cute pair of PJs underneath - and I'm sure that will continue once I hit maternity leave!

maternity jeans | lc lauren conrad

I've been trying to soak up these last days of summer (and freedom) by getting out of the house and doing all the summer things. So yesterday the hubs and I went to the farmer's market in downtown Davenport and it was so much fun! They had roasted sweet corn (which is a must-have in Iowa!), craft beers, tons of pastries and live music. This August has been surprisingly mild in the weather department and it was nice to get out and soak up some sunshine without sweating profusely!


Let's talk denim. Since it has been somewhat cooler, I was getting nervous about what to do about jeans - I love my skinny jeans and clearly cannot currently fit into any of mine. Just the thought of sausage casing myself into a pair of skinny jeans makes me tired and out of breath, but I found these jeans from Lauren Conrad's maternity line at Kohl's and decided to give them a try - and I'm obsessed! They are stretchy, soft, SO comfortable and I love the distressed details. They fit true to the size you were pre-pregnancy and have a little stretch and a panel over the belly, and let's be honest, I'll probably still wear them post-pregnancy. I decided to keep it casual with jeans and a tank for the farmer's market - this tank top is not maternity but is still super comfy and covers the bump well. It also comes in several different colors!

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale | Ultimate Guide under $100

This is one of my favorite events of the year - the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! If you're a Nordstrom cardholder, you can shop early access starting today, and if you're not a cardholder, head over to Nordstrom's website and get a sneak peak of what's available at the sale and start prepping your wish list for public access starting 7/20!

{If I didn't know any better, I'd think mercury was in retrograde right now. After hours upon hours of doing research, my computer has been on the fritz, so I apologize for the delay! Mix all that with a little pregnancy brain - that's how my day/month/all of 2017 is going for me!}

fall style | faux suede vest

I have to admit, sitting here looking out the window at this cloudy, cold fall day makes wanting to wear this outfit a little less than desirable, but believe me, I will find a way to wear this vest further into the fall season. I have a 3/4 sleeve white top just begging to take the place of this tank, and adding booties would be the perfect fall touch!


I'm obsessed with the color of this vest, and I love that it is so super soft. The girly peplum ruffle in the back perfectly balances out with the moto look in the front, making this vest chic and unique, and I love the way it pairs with skinny jeans. I think this vest would also look great with a pair of flare jeans for a little retro look!

fall wedding guest attire w/ express

One of the things I love about blogging is when people tell me they liked a particular post or give me ideas on what to write about. Of course I love this creative outlet and will blog no matter what, but it's always nice to know people are reading. So when my best friend asked for a post on advice for what to wear to a wedding in October... An OUTDOOR wedding in October, in the Midwest, where anything can happen weather-wise, I had to give her what she wanted. I was doing my research and realized a lot of the dresses I found were from Express, and that they have a ton of good options for a fall wedding whether the temps are hot or it's snowing, so this post became a one stop shop! The best part - all these dresses are 40% starting today going through Labor Day weekend! Most of these dresses can be carried into the winter season as well, so stock up while they're on sale.

Fall is just around the corner and I am so excited! I've mentioned several times that fall is my favorite season; football starts, it's my birthday smack dab in the middle and I'm obsessed with fall fashion. That's why today I'm going to talk a few must have accessories for the upcoming season!

Satin bomber jackets are sneaking their way into almost every fashionista's closet and can be worn with pretty much anything. From midi dresses to extreme flare jeans and especially paired with your favorite skinnies and Adidas shelltoes - hello 90s! Boots and booties are always a hot fall item and this year adding cut outs, straps and perforations seems to be the theme and I especially love these peeptoe slides. Saddle bags are making their way into fall as well, with multiple colors and textures. I love a good cognac colored purse for fall, like this one from Haute Off The Rack's collection with Gigi New York. And different faux rock or marble accessories are in, like bracelets, necklaces, phone cases and these sunglasses from Quay

TGIF! Not going to lie, I haven't done a single thing this week but it has gone by so fast. Seems like we are just zipping through August already! I once heard that August is like the Sunday of summer and it is so true - I'm quickly transitioning over to a fall state of mind! I love fall for so many reasons - it gives me nostalgia from when I was in school, college football starts and it means my birthday is right around the corner! Sometimes I really miss the feeling of going back to school, particularly college where it's just mass mayhem trying to figure out where to go on campus. While it was stressful then, it's sentimental now. Those were the days!

On my wish list are some last minute summer finds and some items that are good fall and back to school pieces. From what I've seen, denim everything, prints and of course wool and felt fedoras are in for the fall season. And I'm particularly in love with this rust colored romper

fall in iowa // amana colonies

I absolutely love this time of year. When summer turns into fall and all the cute clothes and accessories that come along with it. Usually around this time, my sister and mom and I take a trip to the Amana Colonies in Amana, Iowa. They have a couple restaurants with delicious food, and the most adorable little shops with all sorts of clothing and wine and cheese and amazing Christmas decorations. This year we got an early snowfall, so it didn't feel as fall-y as normal, but there are still bright yellow and orange leaves on the trees - kind of strange. But it was still fun nonetheless.
